How do you choose the right ESC?

Choose the ESC based on the motor and vehicle type: 1/10 cars generally use 45A/60A/80A/120A ESCs; 1/8 cars use 150A; 1/5 cars use 200A. You can choose a larger ESC, but you should not randomly choose an oversized motor.

Can you use an ESC that is larger than the original one?

Yes. As long as the battery voltage does not exceed the ESC’s supported range, using a larger ESC will not damage the car.

What parameters must you check when choosing an ESC?

Always check the supported voltage (how many “S”). For example, using a 4S battery on a 3S ESC will burn it out—usually within 10 seconds.
